Notice Period and Notice Pay Calculator (Türkiye)
From your start and end dates, find the statutory notice period and calculate gross notice pay (ihbar tazminatı) and stamp tax from your gross wage.
Calculated with Türkiye 2026 rules (Labour Law No. 4857, article 17). The period is the statutory minimum notice.
Your last monthly gross wage, including regular benefits that can be valued in money (such as meals or transport).
Both the first and the last day worked are counted.
The bracket on your payslip. If you do not choose one, only the gross amount and stamp tax are shown.
If the notice period is not observed, the party that did not observe it (employer or employee) pays the wage for that period as compensation. No social security premium is due on it.
The period shown is the statutory minimum; the employment contract may extend it. The tool does not decide whether a notice right exists: just cause, probation periods and fixed-term contracts are assessed separately.
How it works
Enter your start date, your end date (the last day you worked) and your monthly gross pay including regular benefits. The calculator finds your length of service, picks the statutory minimum notice period and shows the gross notice pay and the stamp tax. If you also pick the income tax bracket from your payslip you get an estimated net amount.
The notice period is the time a party who wants to end an open-ended employment contract has to give the other party in advance, under article 17 of Labour Law no. 4857. The statutory minimums are:
- 2 weeks for an employee with under six months of service
- 4 weeks from six months up to one and a half years
- 6 weeks from one and a half years up to three years
- 8 weeks for more than three years
These are minimums. The contract or a collective agreement can lengthen them, not shorten them. The period shown is always the statutory minimum.
Boundary days. The law says "under six months", "one and a half years" and "more than three years" but does not state the exact boundary day numerically. The tool reads it this way: exactly 6 months is 4 weeks, exactly 18 months is 6 weeks, exactly 3 years is still 6 weeks, and 3 years and 1 day is 8 weeks. This is an interpretation in practice, not a numeric rule of the law.
Length of service. The tool counts both the start day and the end day. That is a convention of the tool, not a rule written in the law. 1 February 2024 to 31 January 2026 is exactly 2 years. At month ends the calendar can cause a small shift: 31 August 2025 to 27 February 2026 counts as exactly 6 months.
Amount. If the notice is not observed, the party that did not observe it owes notice pay equal to the pay for the notice period. The calculation is:
notice days = weeks × 7
daily pay = monthly gross / 30
gross notice pay = monthly gross × notice days / 30
stamp tax = gross notice pay × 0.00759
income tax = gross notice pay × selected bracket (optional)
estimated net = gross notice pay − stamp tax − income tax
The tool does one division and does not round the daily pay in between, which matters at the kuruş: with a monthly gross of 10,000.02 TRY and 14 days, a rounded daily pay (333.33 TRY) would give 4,666.62 TRY, while the correct result is 4,666.68 TRY.
Taxes. As generally applied, no social security premium is withheld from notice pay. Stamp tax of 0.759% is taken. Income tax is applied like wages; unlike severance pay it is generally not treated as exempt. Because the tax depends on that month's accumulated base, a single rate cannot be given. The net the tool shows is therefore based on the assumption that the marginal bracket you select (15%, 20%, 27%, 35%, 40%) applies to the whole amount. The minimum-wage exemption and other pay in the same month are not modeled; the result is a net estimate, not a payslip.
How it differs from severance pay. Notice pay has no one-year condition, the severance ceiling does not apply and income tax is withheld. Calculate severance pay separately in the severance pay calculator.
Examples
In the four examples below the monthly gross pay is 40,000.00 TRY.
2 years of service. 1 February 2024 to 31 January 2026. The period is 6 weeks, or 42 days. Gross notice pay is 56,000.00 TRY, stamp tax 425.04 TRY. At the 20% bracket income tax is 11,200.00 TRY and the estimated net 44,374.96 TRY. If no bracket is selected, no net is shown.
5 years of service. The period is 8 weeks, or 56 days. Gross pay is 74,666.67 TRY, stamp tax 566.72 TRY. At the 27% bracket income tax is 20,160.00 TRY and the estimated net 53,939.95 TRY.
3 months of service. The period is 2 weeks, or 14 days. Gross pay is 18,666.67 TRY, stamp tax 141.68 TRY. At the 15% bracket income tax is 2,800.00 TRY and the estimated net 15,724.99 TRY.
1 year of service. The period is 4 weeks, or 28 days. Gross pay is 37,333.33 TRY, stamp tax 283.36 TRY. At the 20% bracket income tax is 7,466.67 TRY and the estimated net 29,583.30 TRY.
With the same pay, someone with exactly 3 years gets 6 weeks and someone with 3 years and 1 day gets 8 weeks. The difference is 74,666.67 − 56,000.00 = 18,666.67 TRY gross, so if you are near a boundary, check your dates twice.

Things to keep in mind
- The result is an estimate. It is for information and is not legal or financial advice. For an important dispute, ask a lawyer or the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. You can also check the legislation on mevzuat.gov.tr.
- The tool calculates only the statutory minimum period and amount. Notice periods lengthened by contract are not taken into account. If your contract has a longer period, the amount is higher as well.
- The tool does not decide whether the right arises. Termination for justified reasons, probation periods, fixed-term contracts (no notice needed) and who was right to end the contract are assessed separately. The tool answers "if the right arose, what is the amount?".
- Using the notice period is a separate matter. If both sides keep working through the notice period no compensation arises, and the employee is generally entitled to time off to look for work. An employer can instead pay in advance and end the contract at once, and an employee leaving without notice can pay the amount. The tool does not assess which applies to you.
- Choose your own bracket for the net. It is written on your payslip. If you pick the wrong bracket, the estimated net is wrong; if you pick none, the tool shows no income tax and no net.
- Gross pay is your own input. Regular items measurable in money, such as meal and transport allowances, are included. Check the items on your payslip and in your contract.
- Daily pay is the monthly gross divided by 30. That is a convention; the actual number of days in the month is not used.
- The data is for 2026. Stamp tax and income tax brackets should be checked each year.
- Everything runs in your browser. The pay and dates you enter are not sent to a server.
